Liz Myhill
Liz Myhill
I work across a range of media including relief and intaglio printmaking, watercolours, oils and mixed media painting. Inspired by my surrounding environment all work is informed by my sketchbooks and location drawings which are later used in the studio to create work that intends to convey an impression of place, atmosphere and narrative.
I exhibit in galleries in the UK and also work as an illustrator with clients including The Mckinsey Quarterly, Big Issue, Resurgence and Seafood Scotland.
Chhaap Residency
Fragments from a Travelling Sketchbook
All of the work created during my month long residency at Chhaap has been informed by my sketchbooks, taking the time to stop and observe life and how we use and adapt our environment to meet our current needs. I then began the process of experimenting with different techniques and exploring the subject, aiming to relay the atmosphere of the place. A combination of several different types of printing and a number of printing blocks may be used to achieve the layered finish.
Also on display are a few of the postcards which form an element of my travel journal – once posted to my home in Scotland they will form another record of my travel with postage stamps and dates becoming an integral part of the image.
